The Tiny Life is looking for a Remote Editorial Manager | pay: TBD

The Editorial Manager is a key leader within The Tiny Life Content team and is tasked with managing content production, shaping our unique brand voice, and ensuring the quality and performance of our content production efforts.

The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled communicator with exceptional writing and editing talents that will lead content development in partnership with our writers and editors. They will ensure brand voice is adhered to, across all channels through content editing and writer development. Candidates from a brand, marketing, or content background will find our culture a good fit, those from a traditional media or newspaper background likely will not click with our culture.

This person owns and manages the day-to-day content production of the editorial team. They are willing to become deeply invested in our writer’s development to ensure consistent quality and continual improvement of high-value content to our readers.

This position also ensures that all content is optimized for SEO. Ideally, this person will either already possess or has the ability to learn a high level of proficiency in SEO competencies: keyword and topical mapping, competitor analysis, searcher intent segmentation, anti-cannibalization management, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work closely with the content team to ensure consistency in brand voice and messaging across online blog posts, landing page copy, email campaigns, social media, and more
  • Develop and own the editorial calendar that unites our content activities and ensures publication of a steady stream of full impact, high-quality content based on a committed, rolling editorial calendar
  • Mentor writers and editors in their own development and support continual improvement organization wide
  • Leverage superior editorial and writing skills to craft insightful, must-read content
  • Leverage excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate productive management of our content team
  • Drive best practices in content sharing, standardization, and operational efficiency across the content strategy, production, distribution, and measurement process
  • Partner with marketing stakeholders to establish goals and clearly defined success metrics to measure the quality of content, audience growth, engagement, and content reach
  • Develop effective big picture ideas, distilling them in to key tactics and strategically executing on them; including a willingness to identify areas of improvement for future projects
  • Employ solid project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and own projects from inception to completion

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build report, support development and align team with our content goals
  • Proven ability to learn and uphold in-house style guide, brand voice and other guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to define brand voice and effectively maintain across time
  • Self-managing and able to function effectively within a team
  • Required: 3+ years of editing, writing and copy-editing experience
  • Required: 2+ years of people management skills
  • Nice to have: 2+ years of demonstrated SEO performance through written content

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a high-speed internet connection, computer, and a full license to Microsoft office (no google docs and no apple pages, we aren’t able to work with those at this time).

SCHEDULE:

This position will start at 5-10 hours per week. Schedule is very flexible; we require a 2-business day turnaround on all items. Regular meetings: weekly one on one, monthly team meeting (usually on weekend), quarterly content planning, annual review and planning.
