Pima County JTED is looking for a Remote Editor | pay: $25 per hour

Position Type: Support Staff

Term of Employment: Part-Time, maximum of 19.5 hours a week as needed and approved by the Director, contingent on funding and completion of editing goals

Salary: $25.00 Hourly

Reports to: AZCTECC Director

Location: Remote

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Editor is responsible for the final review and edits of curriculum resources submitted by AZCTECC Curriculum Writers. Editors communicate directly with curriculum writers to ensure that each curricular resource is coherent and consistent, follows the Instructional Best Practices strategies, and ensures all lesson components are included. This classification of staff is responsible for editing curriculum content to ensure it meets the standards for materials published by AZCTECC. This may include editing for grammatical or formatting errors and ensuring all documents match the lesson plan, unit, and program documents. They also communicate directly with curriculum writers to be sure lesson resources follow Instructional Best Practices strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit curriculum
  • Supplemental material edits
  • Revisions to optimize the appearance of materials (font, images, margins, etc.)
  • Revisions for accessibility
  • Edit materials for coherency and consistency
  • Edit materials to include scaffolding and accommodations, as needed
  • Use the Curriculum Tracking List to work strategically to revise and edit the curriculum
  • Meet with Director and Assistant Director biweekly to discuss ideas, progress, and challenges
  • related to the position

TRAINING AND EVALUATION:

Editors complete an initial onboarding meeting with the Director, Assistant Director, and any other team members to discuss the curriculum development process. Editors are required to successfully complete anchoring editing training with the current staff editor, Director, and Assistant Director. A draft schedule for the Editing process will be shared, communication preferences discussed, and a schedule for support established.
EXPECTATIONS:
Editors are an integral part of the lesson writing and curriculum development process. As such, regular, consistent, and timely completion of editing curricular resources is critical. Editors are expected to communicate regularly with Staff Writers, Teacher Writers, and Director/Assistant Director to ensure timely progress of curriculum development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • AZ CTE Teaching Certificate in the content area identified for curriculum development
  • Two years of experience as a CTE teacher
  • Completed or must complete Instructional Best Practices

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or lesson planning and writing

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • MMR immunization required (unless born prior to January 1, 1957)
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
